An open letter to clothing retailers.

Dear clothing stores of the world,

I can not begin to tell you how frustrated I am that, in DECEMBER, I can not find snow gear for my kids, ANYWHERE. While I appreciate that snow gear gets put out in fall so people can buy ahead of time and be prepared, I find it mind boggling that DURING the winter it is nowhere to be found.

What if my child's snow suit rips and can not be repaired? Now I am up shit creek without a paddle, because every store is sold out of winter gear come November. Costco even goes as far as to put out winter gear in mid July. JULY!!! Give me a break people.

Clearly, whoever is in charge of merchandising for these stores, does not have children. If you had children, you would know that us parents want to ring your necks. I can not find waterproof gloves, I can not find snow pants, I can not find winter jackets. It's not possible. If you had children, you would know that some kids are walking train wrecks. You would know that, due to being accident prone, some kids will rip their gear beyond repair. "Buy two in advance" you say? Sure. Would you like to give me the money to buy my kids two snow suits every year? It's not plausible.

It's not your fault these kids should be bubble wrapped. I get it. I just don't understand WHY for the love of everything holy, can I not buy winter gear IN THE FREAKING WINTER??????? I know I can't be alone in this.

I am hoping that maybe this letter clicks for some retailers. Maybe next year, I will be able to buy replacement gloves, hats, snow pants, coats etc. without having to comb the entire planet.

Sincerely,

Frustrated parents everywhere

Raise the Wage

I think it's ignorant to assume these employees have no education or skills. I know people who work at McDonald's bc their husbands are in the army and McDonald's is flexible with their hours so they can work AND manage home life while their spouses are gone. Even bank tellers only make $11 /hour if they are lucky and that is not because it is a job that requires no skill, that is because the bank would rather award their executives with bonuses biggerthan their actual salaries than pay better wages to the people low on the roster. RBC cut CSR hours in our district from 37.5 to 34 hrs so they wouldn't be considered full time. They said it was the economy. That same year, the CEO Gord Nixon got a $5million bonus. It's all greed. "Happy wife, happy life"? "Happy employees, happy business".

Full time employees should be compensated as such. I would rather work at McDonald's than have no job at all but people need to live. Then employers get mad when their employees have to get more than one job to make ends meet. They get mad because they have to co-ordinate the employee's schedule with another employer, but if they got paid better this wouldn't be needed. Even 15-17 year old employees need to possibly save for post secondary education. If they got paid a better wage, maybe they wouldn't need student loans and would be able to start their adult lives with less debt.

Apparently OPP says now we can use our cars as weapons with no repercussions.

While merging onto the eastbound QEW at Burloak at about 6am this morning, my friend and her husband were purposely rammed from behind TWICE by a transport truck.

"Ever been INTENTIONALLY rear-ended by a transport truck? And that is how our drive into work started today... Sigh. Stu merged onto the highway (with adequate space),
buddy threw on his high beams and then proceeded to follow way too close to us,and then when given the finger for doing so, slam into the back of us - not once, but twice. Great start to the day..."was her facebook status.

She then went on to write "What a joke!!! He's being found "at fault" but isn't being charged with anything.Apparently we can all use our vehicles as weapons, and get away with it by simply denying that you meant to do it. Incredibly disappointed with the OPP on this one!!!"

I should add that their car was deemed undriveable and that Stu was told that if the other guy was charged that he would be too. Apparently flipping the bird is justification for hitting someone with a large vehicle?

So if someone flips me the bird, can I shoot them in the foot?

The truck said Ruan Transport on the side of it and the driver was from Illinois. Welcome to Canada, where you can use your vehicle as a weapon and not be penalized for it.

Who ever decided that this guy was not to be charged should be written up. What a poor precedent to set!

They could have been seriously injured or killed.

Do you think this guy learned his lesson? Doubtful.

I am asking my readers to share this post far and wide. Tweet, FB, email...we need to make noise about this or things like this will continue to happen.
